  • Third-Party Data: Information relating to your credit history or previous storage history (e.g., from databases like StorerCheck) to help us assess your application.


2. How We Collect and Use Your Information

We primarily collect information directly from you when you:

  • Complete an online enquiry or storage reservation form.

  • Sign our Storage Agreement in-person or digitally.

  • Communicate with Zane or our team via phone, email, or in-person.

  • Access the Mount Maunganui facility (via our electronic gate system and CCTV).

Use

We use your personal information for the following core purposes:

  • To Provide Services: To identify you, assess your application, process payments, and provide you with access to your storage unit.

  • Security & Safety: To monitor facility access, investigate incidents (theft, damage, breaches of our agreement), and protect the property and people within the facility via our CCTV system.

  • Account Management: To communicate with you regarding your agreement, outstanding payments, or changes to the facility.

  • Legal Compliance: To comply with legal requirements, including responding to valid requests from law enforcement agencies (e.g., New Zealand Police).

  • Marketing: To provide you with information about our services or special offers we believe are relevant to you. You may opt-out of marketing communications at any time.


3. Disclosure of Your Information

As a locally operated business, we do not sell or trade your personal information. We will only disclose your information to third parties where necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined above, or where legally required.

  • StorerCheck: If you breach your Storage Agreement or engage in illegal activity at the facility, we may report your personal information to this self-storage industry database.

  • Authorised Parties: Any alternative contact person or agent you have officially nominated on your Storage Agreement.

Zane takes security seriously—both for your stored items and your data:

  • We use a range of security measures, including password protection, encryption, and secure physical storage of paper records to protect your personal information from loss, misuse, or unauthorised access.

  • CCTV footage is retained securely for a limited period and is primarily accessed for security and incident investigation purposes.

  • We only retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, or to comply with our legal obligations (e.g., tax records).

You have the right under the Privacy Act 2020 to:
